How to Get the Look You Want With Your Rugs

When it comes to decorating with rugs, there are so many different styles and trends out there, that you can easily lose sight of the fundamentals that make a rug fit your room. Even though every rug is different, there are some common elements about rugs that make them work together. If you’re buying a new rug for your home, consider these things first before making a purchase.

1. Southwestern-style rugs do not necessarily mean a southwestern inspired home.

Yes, this is true. Just because your rug has a southwestern pattern, doesn't mean you have to match it with southwestern decor. We've seen our rugs from our customers in college dorm rooms, cabin rentals, concert stages, and even on RV's!

2. Choose the right rug for your home

For a small-space homeowner, there are plenty of decisions to make when it comes to selecting the right rug for your home. Not only do you have to choose the style, but you also have to decide whether you want an area rug or a long runner rug across your hallway. Depending on your floor plan and the contours of your home, you need to figure out what kinds of rugs even fit! Using a measuring tape, you can quickly expedite your search online for that rug that fits snuggly in your home. The last thing you want is bent corner on the edges of the rug you purchase.

3. Lay out a plan for which colors, patterns, and textures work best within your room

Whether it's a new updated cabin build with open floor plans or an old mansion, creating an environment that's appealing to the eye is key to making the experience feel complete. One of the best ways to do this is by adding color and a pop of pattern throughout your home. Creating a Southwestern-inspired space will bring some unique character to your living room or dining room and help make it truly stand out from the crowd! The Southwest has become a popular locale for adventurous home decorators who want to add an original look to their surroundings, adding pop and color, but without paying the high prices of high-end rugs. Southwestern style rugs are available in a variety of colors, ranging from beige and browns to vibrant blues and greens, making them perfect for any home, cabin rental or office.

5. Finish off an inviting space with accessories that complete the look

The southwestern style is the perfect way to bring color and pattern into a room. There's no doubt about it. You'll have many décor pieces to choose from in this design style. From cactus prints and beautiful paintings to covering your furniture in southwestern pattern designs. You'll always want to complement the look of your rug. However, as stated in point number one, you don't have to match your decor with the southwestern style in theory. The colorful patterns of our rugs can easily be integrated within a cabin or trout lodge style home. Since the rugs are inspired by Native American art (and some designed by Native American artists!)  they do carry that wilderness ethos that looks great in any cabin.
